African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has questioned Peter Obi’s suitability for national leadership, arguing that Nigerians seeking a change in the country should critically examine his record as governor of Anambra State.

Speaking during an interview from 1:08:03 on Sahara TV, Sowore, who is challenging Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, said Obi’s eight years in office should be considered when evaluating his presidential ambition.

He urged Nigerians not to rely solely on public perception or political narratives when assessing leaders seeking to present themselves as alternatives, insisting that their records in previous positions should inform such decisions.

Sowore questioned why anyone genuinely seeking a change in Nigeria would consider Obi their preferred candidate, arguing that his performance in Anambra should be part of the assessment.

He said, “What is any serious person doing with Peter Obi as a political leader? Honestly, that shows me that you’re not serious, as it seems you don’t want Nigeria to change. If Obi is your go-to candidate for changing Nigeria, remember that he was governor of a state for eight years. He left the state with the propaganda that there was public water.”
