The suspect in the death of 22-year-old Uniben undergraduate student Glory Adekolure has been paraded by the Edo State Police Command. The unnamed suspect stated that he had attempted to render the dead woman unconscious by hitting her head against a fence and then made off with the purse.

He made it clear that his fear of being found out by someone who had flashed a torchlight in their direction was the reason behind this rash action. He emphasized that he had intended to steal the girl’s phone and handbag that evening rather than murder her.

“I didn’t want to kill her that night; my intention was to steal her handbag and her phone,” he stated during a police parade Video, from 1:53 as Channels TV reported. She clutched on to the purse so tightly that I assumed it was full of cash. She rejected my attempts to simply take the phone and handbag and leave her unharmed. I banged her head against the fence and fled with the purse when I noticed a flashlight shining in our direction, but I was unaware that she had already passed away.”
