Arewa Youth President DanBature Abdul Hamid has claimed that the price of a bag of rice in Northern Nigeria has fallen from over ₦70,000 before President Bola Tinubu assumed office to below ₦50,000.
Speaking on TVC from 8:35, DanBature urged Nigerians to verify the figures in states such as Niger, Taraba and Kebbi, while pointing to the growing efforts of farmers to produce rice and other food crops.
He also cited an agricultural export programme introduced by the Ministry of Agriculture as evidence of efforts to expand opportunities for local farmers.
According to him, the initiative, which he said had been implemented over the past two months, allows farmers to access international export markets directly, rather than leaving such opportunities largely to wealthy businesspeople.
Here is what he said; “Before President Bola Tinubu came to power, the poor masses in the North bought rice at over ₦70,000 per bag. As of today, a bag of rice is below ₦50,000. Go and make the research yourself and check for states like Niger, Taraba, and Kebbi. Make those researches yourself and see the content and the large numbers of farmers that are trying to produce not only rice, but other food that will help the masses,”
