In an interview from 50:53 with The Podcast Network, John Asiemo, a veteran Nigerian musician popularly known as Daddy Showkey, stated that Senate President Godswill Akpabio helped him after he was involved in a car accident that badly affected his spine
Showkey said he could not walk for three years after the accident. He said he and Akpabio had known each other before Akpabio became a commissioner and he described him as a true friend.
Showkey added that without Akpabio’s help after the accident, he believed he would not have been able to walk again.
In Showkey’s words: “My spine failed, I could not walk for 3 years, I had a car accident. It was before the assassination attempts. When I had that car accident the person who first came to my rescue was Godswill Akpabio. He helped me to go to hospital and I was in hospital for 3 years. He played a lot of roles. I knew him before he became a commissioner and he is a true friend. When that thing happened to me if not for Godswill Akpabio I would not have walked again”
