According to a report from 1:12 by Channels TV, on Friday April 10, 2026, In a direct response to the rising concerns of insecurity along the capital’s borders, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, led a high-powered tactical operation into the dense forests of the Bwari Area Council today.

The operation aims to dismantle criminal hideouts and reclaim territory from bandits who have used the difficult terrain as a base for kidnapping and cross-border raids.

The Bwari Area Council has recently become a flashpoint for criminal activity due to its unique geography. It shares porous borders with both Niger and Kaduna States, providing bandits with easy escape routes into the wilderness after committing crimes.

Speaking from the heart of the rugged terrain, Commissioner Sanusi emphasized the necessity of personal leadership in such high-stakes environments.

“Today I decide to lead myself to this forest,” Sanusi stated. “This is a place in Federal Capital Territory, Bwari Area Council, but you know boundaries between the FCT and Niger and Kaduna state.”

The Commissioner acknowledged that the area has been a stronghold for criminal elements for some time.

The thick foliage and mountainous landscape of the Bwari-Kaduna-Niger axis have historically made traditional patrolling difficult.
