Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission recently reacted after reports on the fiscal performances of three former southeast governors surfaced online. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that the former governors performed abysmally.
The news regarding the fiscal performances of three well known former governors from the southeast region generated mixed reactions after the reports went viral across various social media platforms.
The former governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, former governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and former governor of Ebonyi State and current minister for works, David Umahi were the three past governors captured in the report.
The report, which detailed the fiscal performances of the trio triggered massive reactions, including from Chidi Odinkalu, a respected human rights lawyer and former chairman of the national human rights commission.
According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle on Thursday April 9th, 2026 he pointed out that the three former governors who currently supports president Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 performed abysmally.
From the reports which circulated on different social media platforms and had triggered massive reactions, the former governor of Ebonyi State and works minister, David Umahi left behind a debt of N155.79b while the poverty rate stood at 78%.
