South African returnee, Okafor Jonathan Ugochukwu, has shared how an immigration-related issue prevented him from returning to Nigeria despite making plans to leave South Africa shortly after he arrived in the country.
According to him, he had already earned some money and purchased a return ticket, but circumstances beyond his control forced him to remain in the country after his travel documents were withheld.
Speaking during an interview from 1:05 on Vanguard News TV on Saturday, 18 July, 2026, Ugochukwu recounted his experience while reflecting on his years in South Africa. He explained that although he initially found opportunities and was able to make money soon after arriving, his intention was never to remain in the country for an extended period.
