According to a video from 2:04:02 posted by TVC on Friday, July 17, 2026, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, jokingly recounted a conversation he had with Senate President Godswill Akpabio during the celebration marking the completion of 31 projects in the FCT.
Wike said the discussion took place while they were talking about his political future. He recalled telling Akpabio that instead of returning for another term as minister, he intended to contest the Senate seat representing Rivers East and subsequently seek the position of Senate President.
According to him, “My leader, the Senate President, who is representing Mr. President.
