President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed condolences to former Minister of Transportation and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, following the death of his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, who passed away at the age of 89.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the late matriarch as a woman whose life was defined by faith, family values and selfless service.

Tinubu acknowledged Dame Amaechi’s deep commitment to the Catholic faith and praised her dedication to raising children who have contributed to public service. According to him, her life reflected the virtues of love, sacrifice, kindness and perseverance, qualities that earned her admiration from those who knew her.

The President urged the bereaved family to find comfort in the enduring legacy she left behind through her commitment to faith, dignity and service to humanity.

“My heartfelt condolences to Rt. Hon. Amaechi, the entire Amaechi family, the Catholic faithful, and the government and people of Rivers State over the loss of Dame Ezinne Amaechi, a champion of faith whose life was marked by humility and selfless service to humanity,” Tinubu said.

He also prayed for God to grant the deceased eternal rest while asking for divine comfort for her family and all those mourning her passing.

The condolence message comes despite the current political differences between Tinubu and Amaechi, who is now a leading figure in the opposition and serves as the vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
