In a recent interview from 23:12 on Channels TV, Ann-kio Briggs, a human rights activist and Rivers elder stateswoman, also raised concerns about what she described as the excessive concentration of political influence by key figures within Nigeria’s political system.

During the interview, Briggs stated, “Wike: His hands are in everyone’s pot; he wants to decide who becomes governor in Imo State.” She made the remark while discussing what she views as expanding political influence beyond Rivers State.

Briggs referenced the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, arguing that his political reach continues to attract national attention and debate across different states and party structures.

According to her, such influence raises concerns among citizens who believe that political decisions should remain within the democratic framework of each state and reflect the will of the people.

The activist maintained that governance in a federal system requires respect for boundaries and institutions, warning against perceived overreach in determining political outcomes beyond one’s immediate jurisdiction.
