At a tribute ceremony held in honour of the late Senator Barry Mpigi, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, paid glowing tribute to the former lawmaker, describing him as a reliable and result-oriented leader whose contributions left a lasting impact.

Speaking from 2.00.30 during the event, Wike highlighted Mpigi’s unwavering loyalty and his consistent willingness to support colleagues in the political space. He noted that Mpigi played an important behind-the-scenes role in facilitating smooth legislative processes, particularly during screening exercises at the National Assembly. According to Wike, Mpigi strongly believed in collaboration and demonstrated a firm commitment to standing by his allies during critical moments.

Wike also reflected on the period when Godswill Akpabio contested for the position of Senate President. He recounted how Mpigi dedicated himself fully to the success of that ambition, working tirelessly and sacrificing rest to ensure a positive outcome. His determination, alongside the collective efforts of others, ultimately contributed to Akpabio’s emergence as Senate President.

In addition, Wike praised Mpigi’s commitment to the welfare of his constituents. He explained that the late senator consistently prioritized development initiatives for his state, embodying the true essence of public service. Rather than pursuing personal interests, Mpigi focused on creating tangible benefits for the people he represented.

Describing his character further, Wike noted that Mpigi could always be relied upon to carry out responsibilities without hesitation or complaint. His ability to deliver results quietly and efficiently, he said, distinguished him from many of his contemporaries in politics.

Wike concluded his tribute by emphasizing that Mpigi’s dedication, loyalty, and integrity have left a significant void that will be difficult to fill. He noted that the late senator’s legacy serves as an example of purposeful leadership and selfless service.

In his words, “When Akpabio was to be Senate President, Barry will never sleep. He said, ‘Master, if we fail we’re finished.’ I said we won’t fail and we won’t be finished.” Read_More…
