According to a report by The Times Of Israel on July 7, 2026, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said negotiations with the United States on a permanent nuclear agreement would not resume if Washington continued making threats. His remarks came after US President Donald Trump warned that he would “finish the job” if the two countries failed to reach a final agreement.

Araghchi responded to Trump’s comments in a post on X, stressing that the atmosphere needed for further diplomacy could not exist while threats remained. He wrote, “Negotiations on final deal will not commence if threats continue. Honor your signature.”

The Iranian foreign minister’s response highlighted Tehran’s position that compliance with the interim agreement is necessary before discussions on a lasting deal can move forward. Iranian officials have repeatedly maintained that mutual respect and adherence to commitments are essential for diplomatic progress.
