Major General Michael Onoja, a military spokesman has made a striking revelation regarding the annihilation of top ISIS commander, Abu-Bilal Al-Minuki in the Lake Chad area.
According to his statements which were shared by VANGUARD on Sunday May 17th, 2026 he pointed out that the United States military only provided intelligence support.
The death of the deadly terrorist commander, it can be recalled, had sparked massive public debate, with many arguing on how foreign intervention was allowed.
Sheik Ahmad Gumi, a popular Islamic cleric and former military captain had raised serious concerns over Nigeria’s sovereignty, arguing that the presence of foreign fighters was unacceptable.
However, Major General Michael Onoja, in his statements, pointed out that contrary to public perceptions, the operation was carried out by the Nigerian Military only.
The United States military, according to the military spokesman, only provided intelligence, surveillance and other necessary support, but did not engage the terrorists on the battlefield.
