Ralph Nwosu, the founder and pioneer National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed confidence that the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, would emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election despite the ongoing leadership crisis and legal disputes involving the party.

According to a video from 12:23 posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, while reacting to the Court of Appeal judgment on the ADC leadership crisis, Nwosu maintained that the party’s candidates remained validly nominated and insisted that the legal developments would not derail their participation.

He explained that the Court of Appeal ruling focused on the party’s congresses rather than its direct primaries, arguing that the presidential, vice-presidential, and National Assembly candidates emerged through a separate process conducted in accordance with the party’s constitution and established procedures.

During the interview, he stated, “I can assure you, and I want to make this point: no matter what happens, no matter how the powers of the moment want to do it, after the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi will become President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Nwosu also defended the actions of the National Working Committee, saying the direct primaries were properly organized and involved registered party members across the country.
