Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a Chadian national suspected of acting as a drug courier for terrorist elements operating within the Lake Chad Islands, after intercepting a large consignment of illicit substances believed to be headed for the region.
According to a report by Arise TV from 0:30, the suspect identified as Rachel Samuel, a national from Kelo in the Chari-Baguirmi Province of the Republic of Chad was arrested while transporting the prohibited items following credible intelligence received by the troops.
Items recovered from her include seven compressed bundles of suspected cannabis sativa weighing approximately 30 kilograms, two 10-litre containers of hydromercuric chloride, a machine, ATM cards, personal effects, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Security agencies said preliminary findings confirm that the recovered substances were being moved to locations within the Lake Chad Islands, an area long identified as a haven for terrorist activity.
Rachel Samuel is currently being held in military custody, with all recovered exhibits secured and ready for handover to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
