Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, has spoken about how he helped a young female student who accidentally set a hostel ablaze in Abatete, Anambra State.

In an interview from 6:18 on With Chude, Obi said the girl was very brilliant and lived in a hostel owned by Reverend Sisters. He explained that during a power outage, she used a candle to study and accidentally set the building on fire.

Obi said he arrived at the scene around 4 a.m. while people were crying over the damage caused by the fire. He stated that he took the girl aside and told those around her not to worry because he would rebuild the hostel.

Obi added that he rebuilt the building and also gave the girl a scholarship. He said the girl later became a medical doctor.

I arrived there at 4 a.m, I took the girl and said, ‘Don’t touch this girl, I will rebuild this house’. If you go there now you won’t even believe what I did there.
