Umar Sani, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of selectively using corruption allegations against political opponents, particularly those who defect to other parties.

Speaking in an interview with THISDAY on Sunday May 3 2026, Sani alleged that some prominent politicians, including former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, are being labelled corrupt following their reported exit from the APC to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He argued that such allegations are rarely raised while individuals remain within the ruling party, suggesting that political alignment influences how corruption claims are applied. According to him, defectors are often targeted, while those who return to the APC are absolved of past accusations.

Sani also referenced past remarks attributed to former APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, claiming the party protects its members from scrutiny.
