The Executive Director of the Federal Housing Authority and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Remi Omowaiye, has criticized recent coalition efforts among opposition leaders, describing them as disorganized and lacking a clear political direction.

Omowaiye made the remarks during an interview from 1:50 aired by TVC News, where he assessed the current state of opposition politics ahead of future elections. He questioned the credibility and consistency of key opposition figures, arguing that many have failed to demonstrate commitment to building sustainable party structures.

Speaking on internal crises within major opposition parties, Omowaiye alleged that prominent leaders abandoned their platforms at critical moments instead of working to resolve internal challenges. According to him, such actions have contributed significantly to the instability currently being witnessed across opposition ranks.

According to this words, “The Labour Party has a problem, Peter Obi ran away. The PDP has a problem, Atiku Abubakar ran away, and today they are forming a faction,” he said.

Omowaiye argued that the tendency of political leaders to exit parties during periods of crisis weakens institutional development and undermines the credibility of opposition movements. He maintained that strong political parties are built through resilience, internal democracy, and the ability to manage disagreements without fragmentation.

According to him, the formation of factions within parties instead of pursuing unity reflects a lack of seriousness among opposition leaders. He suggested that such divisions make it difficult for the opposition to present a cohesive alternative to the ruling party.

The APC chieftain further noted that coalition-building efforts currently being pursued by some opposition figures appear to lack ideological clarity and strategic coherence. He emphasized that for any coalition to succeed, it must be grounded in shared principles and a clearly defined agenda, rather than being driven solely by the desire to challenge the ruling party.

Drawing a comparison with the emergence of the All Progressives Congress in 2015, Omowaiye said the party was formed through the merger of established political platforms that were willing to set aside differences for a common purpose. He argued that this process demonstrated a level of organization and commitment that he believes is currently missing among opposition groups.

He added that the APC’s formation was not the result of internal divisions within parties, but rather a deliberate and strategic alliance aimed at achieving political change. According to him, this distinction highlights the difference between structured coalition-building and what he described as reactive political alignments.

Omowaiye also suggested that the current approach by opposition leaders could further fragment their base, making it harder to mobilize support ahead of future elections. He stressed that voters are more likely to align with parties that demonstrate stability, clarity of purpose, and the capacity to govern effectively…Read_More…
