ADC chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo has said insecurity in Nigeria has worsened to the point where terrorist groups no longer carry out quick attacks and flee but now hold ground and operate openly under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking from 6:57 on Channels Television while assessing the three years of President Bola Tinubu in office, Okonkwo described the period as one of catastrophe. He argued that the administration had failed on its most basic responsibility of protecting citizens, pointing to a rise in coordinated violence across the country.
According to him, Nigeria now ranks among the most terrorized nations globally, with people unable to travel or carry out daily activities without fear. Okonkwo cited Plateau, Benue, Kwara, Niger, and parts of the Southwest and Southeast as areas where attacks had become frequent and deadly.
He said terrorists were ambushing security forces, blowing up bridges, and taking control of local governments. He added that some regions had become so unsafe that residents were abandoning their homes and seeking refuge in camps.
He accused the president of lacking the will to confront the crisis, noting that Tinubu had not visited most of the affected communities despite promising to end the violence.
Okonkwo also said the failure of the government to provide stable electricity is crippling businesses and deepening the economic crisis. He asserted that this unchecked insecurity and economic collapse showed that the administration is more focused on political survival than on governance.
In his words, “Terrorists are now manning some local governments. In Niger State, they’ve started blowing up bridges and infrastructure, meaning they are evolving as a military apparatus, military terrorism.”
“Because when you start talking about ambushing our security, when you start talking about planned work, there are no longer terrorists that do hit-and-run. They now do hit and stay in Tinubu’s government.”….Read_More…
