Omoyele Sowore has launched a fresh attack on Peter Obi, criticising his latest political move and accusing him of lacking consistency and direction.
Sowore, the former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), made the remarks in a post on X (formerly Twitter), reacting to Obi’s recent realignment. His comments come after Obi, alongside Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a move that has intensified political debates ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development follows Obi’s earlier defection from the Labour Party (LP), further fuelling criticism from political opponents who argue that his frequent movements raise questions about his long-term political ideology.
Reacting to the situation, Sowore did not mince words. “Last week, Peter Obi was at an opposition summit in Ibadan. We said it clearly then — these unprincipled drifters and their structure of criminality have nothing to offer besides empty words,” he wrote.
He went further to criticise Obi’s supporters, suggesting they continue to follow him despite repeated political shifts.
“Now Peter Obi, the captain of the gravy train, has moved yet again, and those who were misled will once again follow the most directionless political opportunist to ever exist in this clime,” Sowore added.
Sowore’s comments reflect growing tensions within Nigeria’s opposition space, as key figures reposition themselves ahead of the next general election.
