Nnamdi Iroegbu, a stalwart of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has criticised political loyalty patterns within Nigeria’s opposition politics, particularly comments attributed to Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike regarding his support for President Bola Tinubu.

Iroegbu made the remarks during an interview from 3:25 on Trust TV, where he discussed party loyalty, defections, and the conduct of political actors who shift allegiances while remaining formally within their original parties.

The discussion focused on the broader implications of political alignment and internal party discipline within major political formations, including the Peoples Democratic Party (Peoples Democratic Party), which has continued to experience internal divisions and competing loyalties among its key members.

Speaking during the interview, Iroegbu said: “It’s in the public domain that Nyesom Wike while being in the PDP has declared that he is going to support Tinubu. I don’t have any challenge with him saying he was going to support Tinubu but you don’t do that to a party that gave you everything that you have become. You could have moved.”
