Federal lawmaker Honourable Ikenga Ugochinyere has alleged that the legal move to deregister Accord Party is not a genuine constitutional exercise but a calculated political attack designed to keep Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke off the ballot in the next election.
Speaking from 27:20 in media coverage by Arise TV, Ugochinyere said, “If you don’t like Adeleke, you meet him at the polls. But you want to destroy Accord Party so that the man will not be on the ballot, and you say you’re powerful. You are trying to destroy the trust people have in institutions. Is this how Azikiwe and Awolowo practised democracy in their own time?”
Ugochinyere accused powerful politicians of using state institutions to eliminate political opponents rather than defeat them through legitimate democratic competition.
