In a recent interview from 2:06 on Signature TV, Higher King, a legal practitioner and human rights advocate, spoke on the growing influence of political realignments, internal party disputes, and the future of democracy in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During the interview, Higher King stated, “I still think they are going to work together in the 2027 election.” He made the remark while discussing the political relationship between Siminalayi Fubara and Nyesom Wike.
Higher King explained that despite the public tensions and political disagreements surrounding both camps, he believes their long-standing political relationship remains strong. According to him, many supporters have misunderstood the nature of the relationship between the two leaders, leading to unnecessary political hostility within Rivers State.
He noted that both politicians worked closely together for several years in government and built a level of trust that cannot easily disappear. He added that political disagreements are normal in every relationship and do not automatically signal a complete breakdown in cooperation.
The legal practitioner also spoke about the changing nature of Nigerian politics, arguing that politicians and voters are gradually beginning to separate party loyalty from individual political choices. He pointed to recent political developments where some politicians openly supported candidates from different political parties during elections.
According to Higher King, this trend could strengthen democracy by encouraging voters to focus more on competence and performance rather than blindly following party structures. He argued that issue-based politics would create greater accountability and reduce the dominance of political godfathers in the country’s democratic process.
