According to a video from 17:30 posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Sunday, May 17, 2026, former President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Ayo Oritsejafor, raised concerns over Nigeria’s rising debt profile and the economic hardship facing millions of citizens.

Speaking during an interview, Oritsejafor questioned the Federal Government’s continued borrowing despite the difficult living conditions across the country. He said many Nigerians are struggling with poverty, insecurity, unemployment, and poor access to healthcare and education.

The cleric expressed doubts about the visible impact of several loans obtained by the government over the years. According to him, ordinary citizens are yet to feel meaningful improvements in their daily lives despite repeated promises of development and economic recovery.

While discussing the nation’s financial situation, Oritsejafor asked, “For all the money that has been borrowed, what have we used it for, and where is the money from the removed subsidy?”

He also argued that borrowing should produce measurable results that directly benefit the people.
