Bishop David Oyedepo has issued a warning to believers about the consequences of careless speech and dishonest gain in a video that was uploaded to YouTube not too long ago. In the video, Bishop Oyedepo once again emphasised the power of words and the importance of integrity. While discussing the fundamentals of faith and confession, he made the statement that every word that is spoken, regardless of whether it is spoken intentionally or unintentionally, functions as a seed that will eventually produce a harvest.
In his discussion of the economic conditions that exist in Nigeria, Bishop Oyedepo made a startling observation. He pointed out that in the current environment, the only people who are able to afford to construct homes are those who engage in dishonest practices. He emphasised that this was not a matter of impossibility but rather a reflection of the financial strain that the average citizen is experiencing. Nevertheless, he cautioned against making negative confessions and explained that when someone says, “I will not build a house in Nigeria at this time,” they are putting a spiritual verdict into motion that could become their reality. He said this to encourage people to avoid making negative confessions.
Bishop Oyedepo provided an illustration explaining how words function similarly to seeds by drawing on the natural law of sowing and reaping. He explained that during the rainy season, any seed that is dropped on fertile soil will grow, regardless of whether it was planted intentionally or carelessly scattered. Similarly, the words that are spoken in any circumstance, even if they do not have any profound significance, have the ability to mould the future.
Believers were urged to be intentional with their declarations, speaking words that were filled with faith and aligned with the promises of God rather than words that reinforced the difficulties or limitations that they were experiencing. According to him, those who align their confessions with divine provision will experience supernatural breakthroughs regardless of the economic challenges that they are facing.

This is what he has to say: “Am I able to tell you the truth? No one in Nigeria is able to construct a house at this time, with the exception of those who steal. The statement that I make, ‘At this time, I will not be constructing a house in Nigeria,’ constitutes a verdict. There is power in every idle word; you do not need to mean it; all you need to do is say it. If you drop a seed during the rainy season, it will grow, even if it is right under your front door. It will grow if it is allowed to land on the soil.
