According to a video from 5:08 posted on  Arise News on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, NDC Chieftain, Chidi Mike, defended the party’s decision to fix its nomination and expression of interest forms at high rates ahead of the coming elections.

Speaking during an interview on News Night, Chidi Mike explained that the party introduced a gradual payment structure to ensure only serious aspirants participate in the process. He stated that aspirants are expected to first obtain an expression of interest form before proceeding to screening and the final nomination stage.

The NDC chieftain, who is contesting for the House of Representatives, disclosed that he paid ₦2 million for his expression of interest form. According to him, the payment was not easy, but he believes the party’s approach is better than demanding the full amount at once from aspirants.

While reacting to concerns about the high cost of forms in Nigerian politics, Chidi Mike said, “We are not looking for money, but when you make things too cheap, people can just dive in.”
