According to a video from 20:25 posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Sunday, May 24, 2026, Professor of International Relations and Strategic Studies at University of Lagos, Professor David Aworawo, raised concerns over irregularities recorded during the ongoing political party primaries across Nigeria.

Speaking during a live discussion on national politics and electoral developments, Aworawo said some of the incidents reported during the primaries have continued to raise questions about transparency and credibility within the political process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, “There was a case where somebody was counting, and after counting to 170, he jumped to 273.”

Aworawo stated that such incidents should concern both political parties and electoral stakeholders because they could weaken public confidence in the democratic process if not properly addressed.

He also noted that allegations of manipulation, violence, and the imposition of candidates during party primaries could create further political tension across the country.
