According to a report by The Times Of Israel on July 9, 2026, Iran’s military announced that it carried out drone attacks against locations in Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain, describing the operations as retaliation for overnight US airstrikes. The announcement was carried by Iranian state media, which said the attacks were conducted using one-way attack drones.
The military said the operations were part of what it described as an ongoing campaign targeting American military positions across the region. Iranian authorities claimed the latest strikes were intended to hit selected military-related infrastructure in the three Gulf states following the US action.
According to the statement, “in continuation of the attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s army on US bases in the region,” the military launched “a large number of various types of army kamikaze drones” at specific targets.
Iran said one of the drones targeted a Patriot missile interceptor system located in Kuwait. It also claimed another strike was directed at an early warning system in Qatar, while additional drones were sent toward fuel tanks in Bahrain.
