Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission recently reacted after copies of the judgement delivered by Justice Isah Dashen of the federal high court, Lokoja surfaced online.
According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle on Saturday July 4th, 2026 he pointed out that the Judge empowered himself to reject the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
Justice Isah Dashen, it can be recalled, was recently on the spotlight for the wrong reasons after he ordered the de-recognition of the NDC over logo dispute with the Peace Movement Party, PMP.
The judgement as expected, triggered massive controversy as many argued that external actors were working behind the scenes to cripple the party.
The argument was based on the earlier judgement delivered by the judge who on November 2025, ruled that the constitution do not empower INEC to reject logo merely because it resembles that of an existing party.
Chidi Odinkalu, widely admired for his candid opinions, pointed out that by availing himself to compromise, Justice Isah Dashen was scandalously corrupt.
He maintained that the Judge through external influence, empowered himself to reject the NDC, hence, embedding his name on the wrong side of history.
