The Israel Defense Forces has raised fresh alarm over Iran’s expanding missile programme, stating that Tehran has deployed a long-range weapon capable of reaching up to 4,000 kilometres.

In a statement posted on its verified social media account, the Israeli military said the missile was launched during the ongoing conflict, marking the first time such a range has been demonstrated since the start of its current operation. The IDF described the development as a significant escalation with far-reaching security implications beyond the Middle East.

According to the statement, Israeli intelligence had previously warned as far back as 2025 that Iran was working to develop missiles with extended range capabilities. At the time, Iranian authorities reportedly rejected those claims, but Israeli officials now argue that recent events validate their earlier assessments.

The IDF emphasized that a 4,000-kilometre range would place major global cities within striking distance, including London, Paris, and Berlin. It warned that such advancements transform Iran’s missile programme from a regional concern into what it described as a broader international threat.
