In a recent interview from 21:33 on Channels TV, Ann-kio Briggs, a human rights activist and Rivers elder stateswoman, spoke on the escalating political tensions in Rivers State, warning that ongoing disagreements among key political actors are undermining governance and deepening uncertainty ahead of the 2027 elections.

During the interview, Briggs stated, “Wike and Fubara: You cannot agree on anything that concerns the future of Rivers State.” She made the remark while reflecting on the prolonged political rift involving Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Briggs explained that the recurring disagreements between both political figures have created instability in Rivers State, particularly around governance decisions and succession politics. According to her, the inability to reach lasting consensus on key issues has continued to generate confusion among citizens.
