The Senior Pastor and founder of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Paul Enenche, has cautioned Christians against developing what he described as an “arrival mentality,” warning believers never to assume they have fully succeeded in life or destiny.
The cleric made the statement during a recent sermon shared on YouTube from 16:00, where he referenced the biblical account of King Uzziah to illustrate the dangers of pride, self-reliance, and spiritual complacency.
Drawing from scripture, Enenche recounted how King Uzziah, despite his early success and divine assistance, eventually fell into destruction after he became proud and acted outside his divine assignment. He explained that Uzziah’s downfall began when he assumed he had “arrived” and no longer needed dependence on God.
“Never come to the point where you convince yourself that you have succeeded,” he said, stressing that life and spiritual growth remain continuous processes until the end of one’s journey.
He warned that the “arrival mentality” often leads individuals to stop pursuing growth, improvement, and dependence on God, which in turn opens the door to failure and spiritual decline.
Enenche further highlighted what he described as the dangers of relying on personal strength, noting that individuals who begin to depend solely on their abilities, resources, or achievements often drift away from divine guidance.
He also emphasised the importance of remembering the source of one’s help, stating that success is sustained only through continuous reliance on God. According to him, forgetting divine assistance can lead to pride and eventual downfall.
Citing biblical principles, the pastor reminded believers that spiritual and personal growth is a continuous journey. He referenced Proverbs 4:18, which describes the path of the righteous as a shining light that grows brighter with time, as evidence that no one should ever assume they have reached their final stage of success.
Enenche’s message also drew attention to the consequences King Uzziah faced after his fall, noting that despite his earlier achievements, he ended his life in isolation due to leprosy after being struck by divine judgment.
He urged Christians to remain humble, spiritually alert, and consistently dependent on God, warning that success without humility and divine dependence can lead to downfall….Read_More…
