Senator Adams Oshiomhole has explained that his call for answers regarding the death of Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah was driven by personal concern and the need for accountability, not an attempt to probe the Nigerian Army.
Speaking during an interview from 29.12 on AIT News, Oshiomhole said the late military officer was from his senatorial district and that his death on the battlefield deeply affected many people who knew him. He recalled that his daughter was particularly saddened by the news because she and Braimah had attended the same school in Kaduna and were classmates.
The senator also revealed that the late officer’s twin brother contacted him after the tragedy, further highlighting the close connection between the family and people in the community.
Oshiomhole said the death of a senior military officer naturally raised questions, especially as various reports and speculations emerged on social media about the circumstances surrounding the incident. According to him, seeking clarification on what happened should not be viewed as an attack on the military.
He maintained that in a democratic system, public institutions, including the armed forces, are accountable to civilian authorities. He argued that asking questions about the death of a senior officer was reasonable and necessary, particularly when there were differing accounts of the events that led to the loss.
In his words, “My daughter cried because he was a classmate of my first daughter, they were in the same school in Kaduna. The twin brother called me.”
