According to Vanguard, The White House on Friday declared that the United States has the capability to strike Iran’s Kharg Island whenever it chooses, following reports that President Donald Trump’s administration is weighing options to either occupy or impose a blockade on the strategic oil terminal.

According to Axios, Trump has been considering a potential operation targeting Kharg Island as a way to pressure Iran into reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route that Tehran has significantly restricted.

The development comes amid escalating tensions in the region, with the United States and Israel continuing their military campaign against Iran.

At the same time, US media reports indicate that additional American Marines are being deployed to the Middle East.

This move has raised speculation about the possibility of a broader ground operation, especially as the conflict enters its third week.

Responding to the Axios report, White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly emphasized the readiness of the US military to act decisively if directed by the president.

“The United States Military can take out Kharg Island at any time if the President gives the order,” she said in a statement to AFP.

Kelly further stressed that Washington had anticipated potential resistance from Iran and had already made strategic preparations.

“Thanks to a detailed planning process, the entire administration is and was prepared for any potential action taken by the terrorist Iranian regime,” she added.

She also pointed out that President Trump had expected Iran to interfere with maritime activities in the region.
