Nurudeen Azeez, an Ibadan Polytechnic graduate, has spoken about how he was shot on August 16, 2021, while returning to his apartment in Ibadan
In an interview from 0:48 with Punch, Azeez said that after arriving at Iwo Road from Lagos, he boarded a motorcycle to his apartment. He stated that when he got to Idi-Ape area at about 9 p.m., he was shot and immediately fell off the motorcycle.
Azeez said the police officer who shot him walked up to him and appeared to be shaking and sweating. He stated that the officer asked him to stand up, but he replied that he could not.
Azeez said the police officer and his colleagues then drove away, while some passersby tried to chase them as they fled. He said he was eventually taken to a hospital by his colleague and some people
In Azeez’s words: “On getting to Idi-Ape area around 9 pm, I heard gunshots and immediately fell from the bike. The police officer who shot me came close to me and he was shaking and sweating. He asked me to stand up, I said I can’t stand. The a colleague of mine saw me on the floor and dropped from her own bike. The police officer and his colleagues drove away with their colleagues”
