The overall best candidate in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Daniella Owoeye, who scored an impressive 372, has revealed that she deliberately avoided romantic relationships throughout her secondary school years in order to stay fully focused on her academic goals.
Speaking in an interview with PUNCH on Saturday, May 16, 2026, Owoeye explained that she has never been in a romantic relationship and does not currently have a boyfriend. She said she does not have a boyfriend and has never had one. She added that some of her classmates were in relationships, but they were not part of her close circle.
She noted that her success was not accidental but the result of discipline, focus, and careful lifestyle choices. According to her, she was intentional about the kind of friendships she maintained, ensuring that she stayed away from influences that could distract her from her studies.
