According to a report from 3:24 by Fox News, on Saturday May 16, 2026, Israel is keeping a laser-focused watch on high-level diplomatic summits, warning that the United States is rapidly approaching a critical crossroads that will force the Trump administration to choose between striking a new diplomatic deal or resorting to direct military action against the Iranian regime.
Middle East and intelligence expert Danny Citrinowicz revealed that Israeli intelligence and government officials believe the strategic campaign against Tehran has arrived at a volatile inflection point.
With diplomacy stalling, the threat of kinetic military conflict is once again looming large on the horizon.
As Washington attempts to gauge whether international pressure can bring Tehran back to the negotiating table, Israel is tracking global diplomatic maneuvers particularly Washington’s interactions with Beijing to see if international leverage will alter the U.S. trajectory.
“Well definitely we’re looking very closely about the summit itself, because we believe in Israel, that this campaign returning back to a decision point again,” Citrinowicz stated. “President Trump will have to decide whether to return back using force, or trying to reach again some sort of an agreement with, with Iran”.

According to Citrinowicz, any hope placed on Chinese mediation serves mostly to delay an inevitable choice.
“And I think that we assume that what’s happening in China will help him make this decision,” Citrinowicz observed. “Where they can think that maybe the Chinese can pressuring Iran to continue this kind of negotiations, so there will be postponement in the decision to return back to kinetic activities or not”.
Despite the diplomatic backdrop, Citrinowicz warned that the fundamental reality on the ground has not shifted. Tehran has shown no signs of capitulating to Washington’s core demands regarding its nuclear ambitions or regional proxy warfare, effectively narrowing the White House’s available paths forward.
“But I really think that we are on decision point again,” Citrinowicz emphasized. “The Iranians show no willingness to compromise regarding the president request. So I think the president will have to return back and think whether using kinetics again will help him capitalize Iran”.
While Citrinowicz expressed personal skepticism regarding the ultimate efficacy of a renewed military engagement, noting, “I don’t think it will happen,” he left no doubt about the gravity of the current geopolitical environment.
“But definitely there, it’s a crucial point in the campaign between US and Iran,” Citrinowicz concluded….Read_More…
