A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Joe Igbokwe has reacted to the reported presidential ambition of Seyi Makinde, describing the Oyo State governor as a politician who prefers to operate independently and outside the influence of political blocs.

Makinde, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, recently declared his interest in contesting for the presidency under the PDP, a move that has continued to generate debate within political circles ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reacting in a Facebook post, Igbokwe said he had long tried to understand Makinde’s political style but admitted that the governor remains difficult to predict because of his unconventional approach to politics.

“I have been trying to unravel how Governor Makinde is wired but all to no avail. He does his own things his own way. He follows his own path and damn the consequences,” Igbokwe wrote.

The APC stalwart further suggested that Makinde’s leadership approach differs from the collaborative politics often associated with regional political movements in the South West, noting that the governor appears comfortable pursuing his ambitions alone.
