In a video from 5:31 posted on Symfoni TV, lawyer and National Democratic Congress (NDC) member, Okere Kingdom delivered a scathing rebuke of Kenneth Okonkwo following his alignment with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, accusing him of betraying the very values and causes he had once publicly championed alongside Peter Obi.

Okere did not hold back in his characterization of Atiku, framing the former vice president as the embodiment of everything the reform movement had been fighting against. “I wish him well in his new-found love, Atiku Abubakar,” he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

“Atiku Abubakar represents the face of corruption. Atiku Abubakar represents the old order, the old order Peter Obi is trying to change, the old order people like us have been protesting, have been going to court on public interest cases, advocating that Nigeria must be good,” he charged. “The old corrupt system is the face of Atiku. That’s what Atiku represents,” he added, leaving no ambiguity about where he stood.

While extending a superficial courtesy to Okonkwo, Okere made clear that he viewed the move as a profound moral and political failure. “I wish Kenneth Okonkwo well, but I want to tell him that he’s now a prodigal son,” he said, invoking the biblical metaphor to suggest that Okonkwo had strayed far from the path he once walked.
