Dr. Charles Omole, author of From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari, has claimed that individuals widely described as the “cabal” within the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari were uncomfortable with the outspoken nature of former First Lady Aisha Buhari during Buhari’s time in office.
Omole made the remarks during an appearance from 1:49 on State Affairs with Edmund Obilo Show, where he discussed internal power dynamics that allegedly existed within the Buhari administration and the role Aisha Buhari played behind the scenes.
According to the author, some influential figures around the former president expected Aisha Buhari to remain reserved and avoid involvement in political or governance matters. However, he said they were taken aback by her boldness and willingness to question certain actions within the administration.
“The cabal did not like Aisha. The cabal were surprised at the feistiness of Aisha. They expected a kind of quiet first lady who does her own thing quietly. They were surprised at how intelligent and how challenging she was to what they were doing,” Omole said during the interview.
