Dikko Umaru Radda has raised concerns over the growing activities of Boko Haram terrorists in parts of Katsina State, revealing that some of the individuals involved in the attacks are known members of local communities.
Speaking during an interview from 1:59 on Channels Television, the Katsina State governor said the security challenge facing some communities in the state has become more troubling because certain suspects are not strangers but people whose identities and family backgrounds are well known to residents.
According to Radda, local communities are aware of the identities of some of the terrorists disturbing the state. He stressed that one particular suspect frequently mentioned by residents is widely recognized within the area.
“This person disturbing Musawa Matazu, we know him, he is Mohammed, that’s his name and everybody, his mother, father, grand father was born there,” the governor said while discussing the security situation in Katsina communities affected by insurgent attacks.
The governor’s remarks highlight the complexity of insecurity in northern Nigeria, where authorities have repeatedly warned about the collaboration between criminal groups, bandits, and extremist elements operating within rural communities.
Radda noted that the familiarity of some suspects with local populations makes the security situation even more difficult, as many of them grew up within the same communities now being terrorized.
