During an interview from 22:14 on Arise Television, Babachir Lawal, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), commented on the perceived support base of Peter Obi and the impact of recent political realignments.

Lawal said Obi was initially seen as a valuable addition due to his widely discussed grassroots support, often referred to as the “Obidient” movement, which many believe has significant presence across the country.

However, he questioned the visibility of that support base from his personal experience, suggesting that he has only encountered a few identifiable members of the movement.

He added that while political movements may appear strong in public discourse, their actual structure and reach can vary depending on individual interactions and experiences within the political space.

According to him, “He came in because we felt that he had an organic followership… Peter Obi, on the other side, also has some organic followership. They call it the Obidient movement. If you ask me who, I might probably tell you five that I know about. That’s true. I probably will tell you five because in all my relationships with him, I know Yunusa Tanko.
