Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has delivered a powerful message to married couples, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and honor, especially in the later stages of life.

Speaking during a recent sermon from 1:23:08, Pastor Kumuyi drew attention to the biblical principle of giving honor within the family, citing 1 Peter 3:7 as a key reference.

He cautioned wives against downgrading or disrespecting their husbands as they grow older and become less capable of doing what they once could. According to him, honoring one’s spouse is not only a duty but also a reflection of love and understanding.

“Have a vision,” Pastor Kumuyi said. “If you don’t honor the man, who do you expect to honor him? If you downgrade him, if you trample on him, if you make him a nobody in the place where he should have honor, when he goes outside, we cannot blame the outsiders if they don’t honor him. Charity begins at home. Honor begins at home.”

Expounding further, the revered cleric highlighted that aging is inevitable and that both spouses must learn to support each other during these stages. “When your man becomes old and he cannot do what he used to do, honor him. And when it appears that they cannot produce like they were producing in the past, let us give honor to each other — the husband honoring the wife, the wife honoring the husband, parents honoring children, and children honoring parents. The honor will go around in Jesus’ name,” he declared.

Pastor Kumuyi also underscored that a lack of honor in the home can affect spiritual well-being, warning that dishonor could hinder prayers. “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife as unto the weaker vessel… that your prayers be not hindered,” he quoted.
