Anengi Barasua, the Chairman of Bonny Local Government, has advised her counterparts across various local governments to adhere to legal mandates and vacate their offices at the end of their tenures. Barasua emphasized her commitment to the rule of law by vacating her office at the conclusion of her three-year tenure and is now awaiting further instructions from the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Sim Fubara.
In an interview with Channels TV from 03:31, Barasua stressed the importance of following legal procedures and maintaining order during transitions of power. “I have already vacated office and all I’m waiting for is that His Excellency, Sir Sim Fubara, should give the directive and we do the needful,” she stated.
Addressing the conflicts that have arisen in certain local governments, Barasua called for peace and diplomacy. “In those local governments where we are having these issues, I think they should just embrace peace. I will advise my colleagues to obey the law and vacate their offices like I did,” she urged.
