The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has alleged that the vast majority of the Northern problems were created by Northern elites and not the fault of the South or the federal government.
Speaking on Trust TV from 45:13, Baba-Ahmed said, ”Northerners are very fond of blaming the federal government. Ninety-nine percent of the problems of the North were created by Northerners, they were not created by Southerners. You have some Northern governors now all lined up in the Villa waiting for the president, meanwhile resources have been made available for them and we are not seeing improvement in the lives of our people,” he said.
He further accused some Northern politicians of treating their constituents as votes to be purchased rather than citizens to be served. “Some of our leaders think they can fool the Northerners. They think Northerners are just for sale. And the sad thing about it is that these are Northerners talking about Northerners and that’s why the rest of Nigeria thinks Northerners are ignorant people. They tell themselves, just wait for elections, bring out rice, bring out spaghetti, bring out this and a few buses and the people will line up behind you,” he said.
He argued that Northern leaders who ignored their people through years of suffering, killings, and insecurity have no moral right to show up at election time.
