During an interview from 10:58 on Channels Television, Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation and a member of the ADC, spoke on leadership and generational capacity in politics, drawing comparisons between Nigeria and developments in the Benin Republic. He stated that age and energy are important factors in effective governance.
He argued that leadership requires both physical and mental capacity to respond to national challenges, adding that the demands of the office go beyond experience alone. He added that younger leadership may bring a different level of responsiveness and engagement in addressing the country’s pressing issues.
According to him, “A 49-year-old president has been elected in Benin Republic. I’m the youngest candidate among all those running now (60). The rest of them are in their 60s and 74. President Tinubu said he’s 74, Vice President Atiku is 80, and I’m 60. Now, this requires capacity.
