During an interview from 14:49 on Trust TV, Security Expert, Dr. Yahuza Getso recounted an incident in Zamfara State involving a bandit leader who allegedly demanded the return of a seized rifle from a community. He said the development illustrated the confidence with which some criminal groups continue to operate.

According to Dr. Getso, members of the community had recovered an AK-47 rifle from one of the bandits during an earlier confrontation.

He claimed that the leader of the armed group later sent a message demanding that the weapon be returned or the community would face another attack.

Describing the incident, he said, “A Bandit Demanded the Return of His AK-47 While a Military Formation Was Barely One Kilometre Away.”

Dr. Getso argued that the reported incident raised questions about the ability of security forces to deter criminal groups operating close to military locations.

He said the proximity of security formations should ordinarily discourage armed groups from making such threats.
