Former minister of youths and sports, Solomon Dalung, has asserted that the claim of security collaboration between the US government and Nigeria in fighting banditry is a sham, a scam, and fake, challenging anybody to come out with a credible achievement so that he may apologize.

In an interview from 6:30 with Trust TV, Dalung made this statement while dismissing remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, applauding President Bola Tinubu’s government on U.S.-Nigeria cooperation against insecurity in Nigeria.

He was asked if he thought there was any value in Trump’s statement in addressing regional insecurity, terrorism, and cross-border activities of armed groups and whether he believed that opinion had been bought.

Dalung replied that Trump is someone whose statements on all policy fronts and diplomatic spaces do not have any meaningful weight at all, because what Trump is saying is different from what he means. He argued that Trump has not made any statement that anyone can credibly hold him responsible and accountable for.

He cited an instance where Trump signed a ceasefire deal, yet while the delegation was at the negotiation table, he was bombing his opponent, Iran. He questioned if such a person could be taken seriously, saying there is nothing Trump has said that is credible and reliable.

Dalung insisted that what Trump actually meant is that the collaboration with the Nigerian government is not on security. He said they did not tell Nigerians what they are collaborating on. He noted that Nigerians have seen American soldiers landing in Nigeria and an attempt where expired missiles were fired into the desert and into places in Sokoto where there are no terrorists or bandits.

In his words, “We have seen American soldiers landing in Nigeria, and we saw an attempt where expired missiles were fired into the desert and into places where even there are no terrorists or bandits in Sokoto.”

“And, of course, villagers were going there and sitting on those unexploded and expired missiles fired into those areas. So, in fact, the whole thing is a sham. The whole thing is a scam. The whole thing is fake. And I challenge anybody to come out with a credible achievement so that I may apologize.”

“But, for me, I don’t think there is any partnership. If there is, it’s a partnership in different fields and interests, which they are yet to explain to Nigerians.”….See More
