United States Vice President JD Vance has reaffirmed Washington’s hardline position on Iran’s nuclear programme following the collapse of critical negotiations in Islamabad, insisting that Tehran must transfer its nuclear material out of the country for any deal to move forward.

In a statement posted on his verified social media account, Vance emphasized that the United States had made significant concessions during the talks but is now waiting on Iran to respond. “We’ve made clear that we absolutely need to see the nuclear material come out of the country of Iran… the ball is in the Iranians’ court because we put a lot on the table,” he said.

The high-level negotiation in Islamabad, which lasted several hours, ended without agreement after both sides failed to bridge deep differences over Iran’s nuclear activities. U.S. officials reportedly pushed for strict conditions, including the removal of enriched uranium stockpiles and long-term limits on Iran’s nuclear programme.

However, Iranian authorities rejected these demands, describing them as unacceptable and a violation of national sovereignty.
