Daniel Bwala, a presidential spokesperson, has stirred fresh political discussion after making strong remarks about the influence of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Nigeria’s political landscape.

Speaking during an interview from 25:19 on TVC News on Sunday, July 19, 2026, Bwala argued that Obi’s emergence on the national political scene brought a new style of political engagement that he believes has had negative consequences for public discourse and democratic participation.

During the interview, Bwala claimed that the political movement surrounding Peter Obi has significantly changed the tone of political conversations in the country.

According to him, the development has encouraged a pattern of political engagement that has become increasingly confrontational, with supporters often engaging in heated exchanges on social media and in public debates.

Expressing his concerns, Bwala said, “Peter Obi introduced a very dangerous phenomenon into our politics.” He maintained that political competition should be based on policies, ideas, and respectful engagement rather than hostility and personal attacks.
